Jackson KatzPh.D., is an educator, author, filmmaker, and cultural theorist who is internationally renowned for his pioneering in the fields of gender violence prevention education and media literacy. Jackson is a global leader in the growing movement of men working to promote gender equality and prevent gender violence.

Dr. Katz is co-founder of Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP), a widely used sexual and domestic violence prevention initiative in college and professional athletics across North America, as well as the US military.
Jackson and his MVP colleagues have additionally worked extensively with schools, youth sports associations, and community organizations. Jackson was the first to implement programs into professional sports, inclusive of the Boston Red Sox & New England Patriots. He was also the first to implement them within the US military, working with the Department of Defense. Jackson is a key architect of the “bystander” approach which is a broadly popular strategy used in both the sexual assault and relationship abuse fields.

In years prior, A Safe Place has sponsored speakers who have told their personal stories of domestic abuse and sexual assault. These events have featured women and have been attended primarily by women. Men, however, should also be part of our efforts to end domestic violence and sexual assault.

This event  is meant for a mixed audience because we know our efforts to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault are that much stronger when partnering with men who share our commitment to gender violence prevention.

An important part of the mission of A Safe Place is our commitment to educate the community and empower individuals to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. We hope that you will join us in supporting our mission!
