Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Counselor Course

We are proud to announce that A Safe Place staff implemented and facilitated a Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Counselor Course.  All of our new employees, as well as several volunteers, completed the 40 hour intensive course. Several members of the community were guest speakers shared their unique knowledge and experiences with the students. Sunny Daily, from Health Imperatives taught a class on prevention and treatments for Sexually Transmitted Infections.  Detective Chris Kelly and Detective Jackie Mason discussed the law enforcement aspect of handling Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault cases, as well as giving a tour of the Public Safety Building.

Sustainable Nantucket’s Farmers and Artisan Market

On July 27th we participated in The Sustainable Nantucket’s Farmers and Artisan Market downtown. Sustainable Nantucket is cultivating a healthy Nantucket by building a more locally-based and self-reliant food system, and a strong island economy. The Market is designed to support Nantucket’s traditional industry of agriculture and to help sustain cottage industry.

‘Sconset Chapel Outreach Program

The ‘Sconset Chapel Outreach Program sponsored a Pop Up Shower for A Safe Place!  About 30 members of the community gathered to learn more about our agency and the services we provide to the people of Nantucket.  Outreach members brought donations that are badly needed by our clients.
